Speed Up Public and Commercial Pool Health Department Inspections

Health Department inspections are required for almost all public and commercial pools. No one likes being inspected and most inspectors appreciate anything you can do to make it easier and faster for them to be in and out of your property as quickly as possible.

Pool Shark H2O - Public and Commercial Pump Room Signs

Did you know you can print out your own sign for the pump room with a QR for easy access to your water chemical logs?

This makes health inspections faster and hassle-free for inspectors. Inspectors don’t have to decipher smudged soggy writing or wait for staff to retrieve past chemical logs, speeding up inspections.

If you haven’t printed out your pump room sign from the Pool Shark H2O app yet, here’s how to do it.

  1. Login to your account on your computer or mobile device and click on the name of the pool or spa to bring you to the pool details page.

2 ) On this page you should see a link to “Print Sign”.  Just click that link and follow the printing instructions.

That’s it! Laminate your new sign and hang it in your pump room or put it on the clipboard where you used to have that soggy paper logbook.

Accessing pool logs is one of the most time-consuming issues many health inspectors face and can dictate how the rest of the inspection is going to go.  You are using Pool Shark H2O to make your pool maintenance easier so print out these signs and don’t keep that inspector waiting! They will appreciate it.

Schedule Your Pool Public Health Inspection

Wait, what? Aren’t these inspections supposed to be a surprise?  Well, kind of yes, however, most health inspectors have a huge number of facilities they are trying to inspect in a short period of time. If you have a seasonal pool, contact the inspectors early before you open and try to schedule a visit. Not all inspectors may be open to this but if you can do it before opening day, you know your facility will be ready and the inspector won’t have to make a second trip.  Not only is this less stressful on you, but the inspectors also aren’t dodging guests and you still have time to fix any issues before your facility is packed on opening day.

911 Phones

While this is not a health inspection a 911 phone that doesn’t work will most likely close your pool.  It’s a good idea to test them regularly to ensure they work when you need them.  Prior to opening a seasonal pool, or at least annually for year-round facilities, why not schedule a time to use the 911 phone and run a live drill with your staff?  This makes sure everyone knows what to do in an emergency and also has the added benefit of showing the local first responders where they need to go to access your pool in case they are needed for real!  After all, if someone picks up that phone, every second counts!

Stay safe and enjoy the water!
